ADVISORY: Upcoming Virtual Forum on Impact of Systemic Racism on Public Education
What: In what has been a devastating time for our nation, Connecticut elected leaders are now considering how to use this time to change long overdue policies in pursuit of educational opportunity and to address systemic racism. Tomorrow, to help further that conversation, Democrats for Education Reform CT will host a virtual forum with DFER National President Shavar Jeffries and State Representative Jason Rojas to discuss the ways in which housing, school discipline, resource equity, and criminal justice laws—among other issues—impact the manner in which schools are run, children learn, and our public education system functions.
Who:
Shavar Jeffries, National President of Democrats for Education Reform, and Civil Rights Attorney
Representative Jason Rojas, Co-Chair of General Assembly’s Finance, Revenue, and Bonding Committee
When: Tuesday, June 9th at 2pm | Press availability to follow formal agenda
